West Coast Park with my Olympus OMD M5

This morning was a walk in the park with a particular camera - the Olympus OMD M5. It belongs to my husband and I think it is rather under-utilised being used only on weekends. So I fixed on the telephoto lens with a 2X teleconverter and looked forward to capturing some interesting creatures from afar. It was not a very fruitful endeavour as I managed to get some kingfishers and squirrels but they were doing nothing spectacular other than sitting on high branches looking for potential lunch to present themselves in the form of insects or caterpillars. There was also a small changeable lizard that darted across my path but that was about all. The morning was super hot and really not very conducive for walking or photography.

The cucumber-like fruits of the Kapok tree.
The cannonball trees were flowering profusely.

A bunch of sea-grape (Putat Laut)
Changeable lizard with a bloated stomach. Must have had a good breakfast.

Smelling the fragrance of the blooming Rangoon vines.

A lone butterfly that must have felt like a billionaire amongst these flowers.

A pretty kingfisher with beautiful ocean-blue feathers.
It was looking out for things to eat.
Unfortunately, it had no luck.

A Little Heron at the Marsh garden.

Today I had no bread to feed the fish here.

The resident waterhen and its mate out for brunch.
I waited for the family of otters to appear.

This man is a regular at the park and plays a kind of Chinese trumpet.

I thought it was a sparrow but it was bigger and had longer legs.

Ship-repairing activities.
A fishing boat that will soon be booted out of the area.
Luxury yacght are also competing for space.

I can foresee that these fishing boats will be gone soon.

Flowers of the Flame of the Forest tree.

A shy magpie.

Looked like the same kingfisher I saw earlier.

Hi mate, so did you catch anything?

Coral tree flowers.
A lone waterhen washing and preening its feathers.

Squirrels love the buds of the Cannonball tree flowers.

Still no luck with lunch.
