Labrador Park in May 2014

In May the weather was hot and the light was great for photography. Low tide revealed the rocks piled against the embankment and the water was clear. I took advantage of the bright sunlight shooting against it to get more dramatic pictures. The highlight of this particular visit to Labrador Park was seeing the chilli-red flowers in clusters on the branches of a Flame of the Forest tree growing along the access road to the park.

Ferns that look like you could sit on them.

When I saw these lovely flowers of the Flame of the forest tree, I stopped my car by the side of the road, got out of the car and spent some time photographing and at the same time admiring the lovely flowers. Usually these trees are very tall and there is no chance to get close to the flowers. That day, the tree made an exception for me because it could and I was grateful for being able to see the flowers at such close range.
