West Coast Park - Golden chain flowers.

On this fairly haze-free and breezy morning, West Coast Park welcomed us with its lush and expansive green spaces. It is a park that I can never tire of visiting.
Flowers of the Golden Chain tree originally from Brazil and Uruguay.
They have been on this tree for weeks.
The flowers are slowly shedding their petals and fruits are forming.
A Changeable lizard that was wary of my presence.
If you love trees, West Coast Park is the place to be.
The variety of trees on this expansive park is impressive, not to mention the shade they provide.
In the evening you could gather some friends and play Chess here.
Sunlit leaves.
The National Parks Board keep the trees healthy and free from parasitic plants.
Palm tree laden with fruit.

This is the first time that I see monitor lizards in this park.
The greenery of this park is soothing. This area is also an official camping site.

Bukit Batok Nature Park on a Sunday morning.

Much encouraged by the presence of insects at Bukit Batok Nature Park two days ago, I took my husband there this morning to see if it was his lucky day. We parked the car at the foot of the Japanese War Memorial and walked down to the park taking our time to look out for the elusive insects. We found some insects that were not new to us and were slightly disappointed that Lady Insect luck was on vacation today. Still, I had a good time enjoying what attracted my attention other than insects and overall, it was a relaxing walk through the park.
Tall and strong bamboos greeted us at the start of our walk.

A lone, flowering plant perched on the slope.
A dash of colour from a fungus growing on pieces of dead wood.

Singapore Rhododendron that I trained my lens on waiting for a carpenter bee to come a-calling.
While waiting I chanced upon this White-throated Kingfisher and got this lucky shot.
So the bee finally appeared but I was not fast enough with the focusing.
A shot against the craggy wall of the former granite quarry.
Ant abode.
Love these ferns for their interesting formations.

Watch me unfurl.

Insect feeding on a tiny piece of something that must be really delicious.

A Laughing Thrush unusually quiet.
Once these were covered by thick undergrowth.
Passion fruit flower indicating the presence of the plant somewhere.

A single bloom from a cluster of Bat Lily plants made my day.

Another insect rubbing its hands in anticipation of lunch appearing.

Mr Brown butterfly sunning himself.
Monitor lizard shuffling around and giving away its presence.

Interesting beetle, the best find of the day.

Nature's art on a flower.
Fern leaf all curled up.
Mating insect, sorry for snooping.
Pretty cricket.

Flower of the Simpoh Ayer (Delinia Suffruticosa). The leaves were used for wrapping food long ago.

A hopper dressed to the nines.
Photographed for the third time before getting the decent sharpness.

This butterfly stayed for some time on this log.
It appears to be feeding on something. See the extended proboscis.

Uniformity in nature.
Mature trees amidst younger saplings.

Roof decorated with Bird-nest ferns.
I found the leaves unique.
A tiny butterfly caught my eye just before I left.
The squirrels here are different from those in West Coast Park.
The flower of the Apostle plant.

Lush greenery.
Leaves bidding me farewell.
Last shot for the morning.
