Sungei Buloh Wetland, Coastal Trail

The last day of the precious Good Friday long weekend was to be spent at Sungei Buloh walking along the recently opened Coastal Trail. The weather in the morning was cool, then drizzly and the rain clouds followed us all the way to Sungei Buloh in the late morning. When we arrived, there was a slight drizzle that got a little heavier. We sought refuge in the Visitor Centre and learned quite a bit about Sungei Buloh and Mangrove swamps from the excellent exhibits. Then the drizzle became light enough for us to return outdoors to explore part of the trail near the Visitor Centre. We took some shots of the numerous Tiger Beetles flying here and there over the concrete path despite the drizzle. We wondered why they were not afraid of getting their wings wet and later realised that they were out looking for mates. Though we did not get to wander very far into the Coastal Trail we nevertheless got to enjoy the presence of beautiful tall trees, fishtail palms with their bunches of fruits hanging from their trunks offering us a feast for our eyes. When the drizzle threatened to become a downpour we decided to move nearer to our car just in case and found it rather interesting to walk along the fringe of the pond in front of the Visitor Centre where there were numerous dragonflies and water lilies. True to our expectation the rains came and in the nick of time we got into our car with these photos of our morning spent at Sungei Buloh.
