West Coast Park 5 Mar 2015

Today the Park was occupied by students from an entire school conducting a mass running event. There were students everywhere and the park was less peaceful and appealing then usual. I did not see any student so much as stop to look at a flower or leaf. They just walked and ran past all that nature surrounded them with but they took to the playground like ducks to water. Some opted out of the event and sat around in the shade of the trees chatting and even doing their homework. Luckily I still managed to enjoy the park in my usual way.
A bee-eater threatened by machines.
So you are going to kill the trees and drive me away. I am a migratory bird you know.
A pot-bellied kingfisher.

Flowers sprouting.

See what makes a tree beautiful.

Blooming rangoon vine.

I hang around for a while to enjoy the fragrance from these flowers.

A Kapok tree sending forth new leaves, flowers and fruit.

Now is the season for flowering for this particular tree and others like it.
This is the Pink Mempat tree and it looks something like cherry blossoms.

The flowers of the Pink Mempat or Cratoxylum formosum.

If there were more trees, it would be like Sakura season.

Another kapok tree.
And my favourite Cannonball tree in full bloom.

Surprise! A lovely bird with a melody.
