West Coast Park on the second day of April

April is here, what is on our minds? These days, no one thinks of April Fool's Day though when we were in school that was some thrill we got when we gave an unpopular teacher a bug-laden chair to sit on. In those days we used the same chairs. Teachers these days use high-class office furniture but in those days we could easily swop our chairs for theirs and no one would know the difference. A quarter of a year has whizzed us by and we wake up to another new day where sometimes I get a funny, sinking feeling of emptiness. But, West Coast Park is still in tip-top condition, thanks to the ever-present park maintenance team that keep the park in such a pristine, immaculate condition according to the high standards set for park maintenance. I would hate to imagine what would become of this beautiful park the day these hardworking men and women quit coming. Right now, the park is still lovely and I have photos here to prove it:

Garden by the Bay - Tulipmania

An air-conditioned dome with temperatures adjusted to suit the requirements of temperate as well as desert plants. It is not a walk in the park in the true sense of the phrase but it is a stroll in an artificially created environment where you get to enjoy plants and even trees that are not likely to thrive in our climate. That was my visit to the Flower Dome, one of the two highlights of the Garden by the Bay on Sunday. Most people were drawn to the Flower Dome by the special display of Tulips of many colours and shapes. But tulips are tulips and after a while there is too much uniformity to hold my attention fully. There are other flowers that are more interesting in appearance and more fragrant than tulips and I could not help but got distracted by them.

Tulips occupied the centrestage of the Flower Dome.

Flowers with five or more petals.

Flowers that are unique in shape or colour.

Cacti big and small.
