Labrador Park is one of several parks that I enjoy going to for my walks either alone or with company. On weekdays it is quiet and the greenery is absolutely wonderful. On weekends I imagine it is a favourite place where families gather to enjoy sea breeze and to watch the ships anchored a short distance away and with any luck, your kids might see a gigantic cruise ship leaving the harbour for the open sea so close that you could just say hello to the people on board without shouting. So many of our parks have brought inexpensive joy to people living around them or a short drive away. It will be a pity to make people pay for such simple pleasures. For now, I try not to let the thought bother me since the parking at Labrador Park is still free and instead concentrate on the beautiful nature there. I dedicate this blog to Mr Lee Kuan Yew, our first Prime Minister, who planted the first tree on 16 June 1963 to launch the tree-planting campaign in Singapore. What follows is a flourishing island of greenery and beautiful parks that I now have the privilege of enjoying. I will walk the parks with you in my heart. Thank you very much Mr Lee!

Labrador Park - no more free parking in future
