Pulau Ubin, the second visit in March

Pulau Ubin is a small boomerang-shaped island to the north-east of Singapore. It is a brief boat ride from the ferry terminal on the main island and thankfully it still contains some of the rural charm left and hopefully it will not disappear in the name of re-development. The majority of the 100 odd people making a living from the weekend crowds of locals and tourists in the form of bicycle rentals and seafood restaurants are mostly the elderly who live alone as their children have left to set up homes on the main island. If you are a nature lover, the best time to go is during the weekday and of  course not during school holidays. Not everyone will see the exact same things, views, creatures or plant life. Flowers and birds and insects may be missed by some but the same people may see something that we normally will not see. Or we may all be interested in the same subject but because nature never stands still, we will still be having different perspectives at different times. That's what these pictures are about. They are just my encounters and I hope that they will be interesting enough to lure people to Pulau Ubin to get in touch with nature in the same way.
