Kentridge Park on a Sunday morning.

Last Sunday morning, my husband and I decided to take a walk in Kentridge Park as we have not been there for quite a while, especially for him. We discovered a new walking trail crafted along the side of the ridge that can be accessed from the small carpark halfway up the hill. Ever hopeful that we would see some interesting insect life we were much encouraged by the neatly built steps leading us down the hill. The trees were thin and much undergrowth has been cleared leaving bare the carpet of dry leaves all around. We heard no birds singing and did not detect any insect activity worthy of stopping. In terms of winged creatures, I only saw one dragonfly. My husband spotted a fly devouring a dead spider and that was all the excitement we got from this trail. Along the way, there were many pitcher plants but most of them were dried up or were on the verge of severe dehydration. We saw some mushrooms flourishing because of the dead leaves and wood. There were two changeable lizards to salvage our morning. We wondered why with the recent rainy weather, this part of Singapore is untouched by the rain. The sun was out shining merrily making the walk less pleasant than I had hoped for. The humidity was plain uncomfortable and at the end of this walk, I was really glad to be going home.
