Hortpark on this particular Sunday is filled with lush greenery and delightful flowers. However, insects - other than ants and bees - have been decimated and I am sad to report that the insects that we had seen in abundance and great variety some two years ago in our parks and nature reserves seemed to have vanished into history. Not wanting to waste a beautiful, cool morning on lamenting the disappearance of our beloved insects, we took advantage of the day by enjoying our walk although at each turn we were hoping to be surprised by an insect that could take our breath away.
I dedicate this blog to Mr Lee Kuan Yew, our first Prime Minister, who planted the first tree on 16 June 1963 to launch the tree-planting campaign in Singapore. What follows is a flourishing island of greenery and beautiful parks that I now have the privilege of enjoying. I will walk the parks with you in my heart. Thank you very much Mr Lee!
